Gramigna - Bermuda grass - is a runaway weed dreaded by all country people here in Italy because it is very difficult to get rid of. Its roots spread underground so it pops up everywhere. It is part of the wheat family and produces littles 'ears' from which it gets its common name 'ant wheat'. Found all over Italy from coastal areas to lower mountain areas and is picked in spring and autumn.
